My first cover photo!

I was a little surprised and very enthralled yesterday to find my photo of Rachel Alexandra winning the Kentucky Oaks on the cover of NTRA.com. My husband actually pointed it out to me-- I didn't get any notification from anybody my photo had been bought or used (I'm still fuzzy on how these things work). But it's a credit! A legitimate credit with one of the top Thoroughbred sites the interweb has to offer! Success! I'm not doing this all for my self gratification, after all!

Let the ponies rejoice!

Now let's see if I get those credentials for the Belmont...

  1. Sweet. ... How DOES that work? Compensation, I mean, where you're set up now.

I know our newspaper has set up our own sales site through a service called Shutterfly. People can browse all our photos (even those that never made it in the paper) and can buy different sizes of prints, or even get the picture screened onto hats, shirts, a deck of playing cards, a mousepad, mugs -- even get a puzzle made out of it. You pay an annual fee and Shutterfly gets a small (very small) percentage of each transaction beyond that.

But that's my photo editor's worry, so I don't know all the details.

    Congratulations!
